Reliance Consumer Products Ltd (RCPL), the fast-moving consumer goods arm of Reliance Industries, is setting up a major manufacturing and bottling facility for its flagship beverage brand Campa Cola in Begusarai, Bihar. The new plant, to be built over 35 acres, represents an investment of approximately Rs. 1,000 crore.
The Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA) confirmed the development, announcing on social media that EPIC Agro Product Ltd—responsible for Campa Cola’s production and distribution—has been allotted the required land for the project.
Boosting Regional Operations and National Strategy
This state-of-the-art plant is expected to significantly enhance Campa Cola’s supply capabilities, particularly across eastern and northeastern India. The announcement comes just two months after RCPL launched a similar facility in Guwahati, Assam, signaling a focused regional growth strategy.
Reliance entered the beverage market in August 2022 with the acquisition of Campa Cola and has since moved swiftly to scale operations nationwide. This includes expanding its manufacturing footprint and developing an efficient logistics and supply chain network to support rapid distribution.
Campa Cola’s market positioning is built on competitive pricing and favorable margins for retailers, putting it in direct competition with global players like Coca-Cola and PepsiCo. These strategies have already triggered shifts in pricing dynamics across several key markets.
Strong Revenue Outlook and International Aspirations
According to Reliance’s Q3 FY25 earnings report, the Campa brand is projected to hit Rs. 1,000 crore in revenue this fiscal year. Abneesh Roy, Executive Director (Research) at Nuvama Institutional Equities, commented, “Campa is clearly accelerating its footprint in the east and northeast. Continued investment signals a move toward a pan-India manufacturing and distribution network.”
The Campa portfolio includes cola, orange, lemon, and energy drinks, while RCPL has also launched additional beverage offerings such as Raskik, a fruit-based hydration drink, and Spinner, a sports energy beverage.
Beyond India, Campa has begun tapping into global markets with its initial foray into the UAE, and plans are underway to explore expansion into other regions, including Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.
The Begusarai facility marks the second significant beverage sector investment in Bihar this year. In March, Coca-Cola’s top bottling partner, SLMG Beverages (Ladhani Group), announced a Rs. 1,500 crore plant in Buxar, with another facility on the horizon.
