Suzuki Expands Footprint with ₹1,200 Cr Plant in Kharkhoda

Suzuki Motorcycle India has commenced construction of its second manufacturing plant in the country, located in Kharkhoda, Haryana. The facility is a key part of the company’s strategy to meet increasing demand in the domestic market while reinforcing its manufacturing strength in India.

The new facility involves an investment of ₹1,200 crore and will be developed on a 100-acre plot. In the first phase, 25 acres will be used for production operations, with another 25 acres allocated to green development. Designed for an initial capacity of 7.5 lakh units per year, the plant is expected to be operational by 2027 and will generate over 2,000 jobs.

Positioning for the Electric Future

Although details about the specific models to be manufactured are still under wraps, Suzuki’s growing interest in electric mobility signals a strong potential for EV production at the new facility. The introduction of the Suzuki e-Access and other electric initiatives makes this expansion a timely move toward future-ready manufacturing.

The plant will serve as a flexible hub capable of supporting both conventional and electric vehicle lines, helping the company respond to evolving market needs more rapidly.

Sustainability and Smart Manufacturing at the Core

According to Kenichi Umeda, Managing Director of Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd., the facility is being built on the principles of lean manufacturing and will be equipped with smart automation and energy-efficient systems. “This plant is a step toward achieving Suzuki’s global vision of carbon neutrality and sustainable industrial practices,” he said.

The integration of green spaces and sustainable technologies reflects Suzuki’s commitment to reducing its environmental footprint while driving industrial growth in India.
