Henkel has strengthened its commitment to India’s growing electronics industry with the launch of a cutting-edge Application Engineering Centre in Chennai. Simultaneously, the company is setting up an advanced adhesive materials manufacturing plant in Kurkumbh, near Pune. These strategic investments align with Henkel’s focus on localization, innovation, and sustainable manufacturing.
With India emerging as a global electronics hub, fueled by initiatives like ‘Make in India’ and Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes, Henkel’s expansion positions it as a critical enabler in the sector’s transformation.
Boosting India’s Electronics Manufacturing Capabilities
S Sunil Kumar, Country President – India, Henkel, emphasized the company’s role in strengthening India’s self-sufficiency and supply chain resilience. “As India cements its place in global electronics manufacturing, Henkel is committed to driving innovation and supporting local growth. These new facilities will enable faster product development and reinforce our ability to serve customers worldwide,” he stated.
Cutting-Edge Technology and Smart Manufacturing
Henkel’s 17,000 sq. ft. Chennai centre is designed to accelerate New Product Introductions (NPIs) and reduce time-to-market. The facility houses:
- Five specialized labs dedicated to adhesive solutions, thermal management, and durability enhancement in consumer electronics.
- State-of-the-art technologies, including high-precision material analysis, waterproofing systems, and rapid prototyping tools.
- Global connectivity, linking Henkel’s innovation hubs across Germany, the US, China, Singapore, Japan, Korea, and Vietnam.
Meanwhile, the upcoming Kurkumbh adhesives plant will bolster local production of high-performance adhesive and coating solutions, ensuring supply chain agility. The facility will integrate Industry 4.0 smart factory systems to enhance operational efficiency, optimize product quality, and reduce downtime.
With these expansions, Henkel continues to push the boundaries of advanced manufacturing and sustainable production, reinforcing its leadership in the electronics adhesive technologies market.
